Edition 121, August 19, 2026
The updated My ChildCareBC Services is now available. The update brings Child Care Operating Funding, the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative, and the Early Childhood Educator Wage Enhancement program together in a single self-service platform.
Organizations can now directly update a range of information through My ChildCareBC Services, including:
Providers can access user guides, instructional videos, and other resources on the Child Care Operating Funding web page or contact the Child Care Service Centre at 1-888-338-6622 (Option 2) for assistance.
The Helpline for Children is a confidential, 24/7 service operated by the Ministry of Children and Family Development that provides children and youth with direct, prioritized access to a child welfare worker when they or someone they know are feeling unsafe or being abused.
The Helpline for Children is accessible through two phone numbers, 1-877-631-8282 (fully toll-free and accessible across all telephone carriers and platforms) and 310-1234 (may not work with some carriers or platforms).
Due to the ongoing technical and accessibility challenges with the seven‑digit “310” service, the Ministry of Children and Family Development is no longer referencing “310-1234” in its publications and is instead promoting the existing toll-free number: 1-877-631-8282.
The 310‑1234 number remains active, but print and online materials are being updated with the toll-free number.
Child care providers and partners are encouraged to update online materials to reference the toll-free number 1-877-631-8282 and to incorporate the number into future print materials as they are reprinted.
Child care providers who are participating in the Early Childhood Educator Wage Enhancement and are required to pay the Employer Health Tax may be eligible to receive reimbursement from the ministry. Reimbursements are available to offset any increase in employer health tax that child care providers are required to pay due to participating in the wage enhancement program.
This helps ensure that participation in the wage enhancement program does not increase an employer’s health tax costs. Reimbursement applications for the 2025 tax year will open in the fall of 2026. Visit the Early Childhood Educator Wage Enhancement web page for additional information.
Led by the BC Healthy Child Development Alliance, Feelings First is a campaign that helps parents and caregivers learn about social and emotional development in the early years.
The Feelings First campaign is seeking parents and caregivers of neurodivergent children to review and provide feedback on its website and to share insights on early years social and emotional development through virtual meetings held every few weeks.
Volunteers will receive $25 per hour in compensation for their time. Priority will be given to parents and caregivers of children with autism and/or children from birth to age 5. Space is limited.
Child care providers are encouraged to share this opportunity with eligible families in your community.
To apply, please contact the Feelings First campaign at info@feelingsfirst.ca.
